First time house seekers?

my husband and i are looking into buying a house, he thinks its best if we buy one instead of renting because in the long run we are investing our money into our own house instead of someone elses.. But the thing is i have no clue how all this works houses where i live are from 200,000+ where i live.. So say the house i choose is 215,000 how much will i be paying monthly ??
